Hell on Heels

The towering platforms of Fall 06 seemed to have quickly evolved into towering tools of torture for Spring 07. Models on the spring runways teetered, tottered and occasionally tumbled while attempting to strut their stuff.

And while I love a high shoe as much as the next girl...what concerns me is the somewhat staggering (ha ha) stature of the new breed and the new S&M slant on the accesories. Don't get me wrong...by spring I'm sure I'll be lining up with the rest of the fashionistas...but right now i'm still enjoying bathing in the shock of it all. Comments??

You forgot that one girl with the watering can at the Vivienne Westwood show that fell, picked herself up, stumbled for what seemed like forever, only to fall again. I felt so bad for that poor girl. And then Jessica Stam fell sadly at the Chloe show. Did someone turtle wax the runways this season or what?

Oh how the mighty have fallen! Maybe the idea is that you are so fabulous you are carried around and then perch oh-so daintily while sipping champagne. But only one glass! Any more than that and you'll be tripping all over the place... forget about going down steep stairs to get to a washroom in a restaurant or bar in Paris, NYC, London... or even Toronto? This trend makes ballet slippers look better and better!

Rebecca - totally agree - although champagne may ease the pain! They gotta hurt...

Is it me, or do all those shoes look more devilish than sexy? They scare me too!
