Pierre's Other Art

If I happened to own a pair of Pierre Hardy shoes, I may feel possessed to hang them on the wall. Seriously. At the very least I would place them lovingly on a prominent shelf so that all that entered may enjoy them.

Apparently Pierre already considered this? Who knew? This is my kind of art.

Sports-Day at Marni

Finalement, I'm back in Montreal. I had a whirl-wind week in Paris and unfortunately left just before the shows began. I did manage to make it to some of the glorious shops though - where I had a serious Marni "moment".

I've never really considered myself a "sporty" kind of girl - my fashion is usually firmly planted in the "feminine chic" category (whatever that is). But somehow I found myself in Marni staring longingly at a heavy, black nylon jacket, with a thick elastic belt and lantern sleeves. And then I had the "moment". Suddenly all the baby-dolls, tunic dresses and such seemed positively wrong...and sporty seemed so right!

I was then quite pleased to see that Consuelo Castiglioni was feeling the same for Fall! Anyone else in a sports-day mood???

Paris, Je T'aime Aussi!

Dearest Glossy Ones -
I'm off tonight to the city of lights for the bi-annual Premiere Vision fabric show. I am bringing my beloved MacBook - but as per usual that pesky day job will probably get in the way. I will do my best to bring you home a few morsels from Paris!
Bisoux, The Glossy Ed.

PS. Still mourning my V&R shoes...they would've been SO perfect for Paris:(

Angels and Insects

If you've been following this space, you probably know that I'm an Erdem fan.

Monday did not disappoint. For his fourth season Erdem didn't deviate too much from the charming pieces he's become known for - stunning French lace trims and his beautiful prints. Some of my personal favorites included the striped butterfly prints (especially in the satin mini-dress!), layers of midnight blue satin ruffles, grey satin and lace and high-waisted navy mini-skirts.

Death of V&R Shoes

Dear Victor & Rolf,

I stopped and stared in disbelief when I saw what I thought was the heel cap from my brand new Victor& Rolf shoes laying in the middle of my bedroom floor. I mean these lovelies were made in ITALY after all and such craftsmanship is usually infallible! How did that pesky cap come off I wondered?? Not to mention the tiny gold nail that was used to pound the cap tightly into the highly crafted, rare-wood, conical heel? Now THAT was truly hard to mistake! However, as I bent down to pick up the cap, the carnage to my left caught my eye! NO! It cannot be! And yet - it was.

It was laying on it's side, no longer able to stand on it's majestic peg. My beloved V&R's, purchased in NY less than a month ago...with one lovely heel... chewed off beyond all recognition...literally splinters!

Victor, please don't blame her! She obviously loved them too! They were the first V&R's that she ever layed her eyes on. You can't blame a girl for being star-struck. I had honestly never seen anything quite so lovely myself! Even the Russian salesgirl in NY seemed upset parting with them.

Rolf, I promise to be forever loyal if you could please! send me a replacement heel! The shoe itself seems to have walked away from the horrific ordeal seemingly unscathed - mind you - we will both need therapy to heel the deeper wounds. (Spotty too...)

Awaiting your positive response, The Glossy Editor.

PS. If any of you Glossy readers have a V&R connection and an ounce of empathy....

Are you Flicking Yer Bean for Agyness Deyn?

The New York designers certainly were - she stormed the runways of Donna Karan, DKNY, Anna Sui, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, Isaac Mizrahi (still trying to forget that one), Zac Posen AND Tommy Hilfiger. Now with her own HOH slogan tee...who can stop her? She's done major covers and even the spring 07 Armani campaign. I'm only left wondering where was she at Marc Jacobs?

Who else is on your top 10 list??

'Wandering Stars'...

...backstage beauties at Erin Fetherston. Have to admit I'm kind of loving Chanel Iman and her sly little smile...

...almost as sweet as Erin in her sequined cloche with her mate Hedi Ferjani.

London's Calling...

I have to admit that NY Fashion Week just doesn't feel quite the same without the presense of little sister line, Marc by Marc. That being said, will it give London the hit of cool it so desperately wants? Any thoughts o-glossy-ones?

I LOVE NEON...

Channeling a little Sonia Rykiel, some Marc Jacobs and even a little Balenciaga (ah hell.... there may have even been some hints of Prada and YSL in there). ALL that and I still have to say that it was my favorite show of the day. The combinations of chunky tweeds in cropped silhouettes paired with neon bright satin, set DKNY on it's way. I think my heart almost stopped when Irina appeared in mensy, tweedy trousers and a chiffon scarf blouse emblazon with flourescent hearts. Berets and all - I'll take it.

Shine On

In what is only their third year, Ruffian showed a strong collection that seemed all grown up. Perhaps better known for their couture-like aesthetic, this season Ruffian kept it all American sportswear - with a twist. Luxurious fabrics such as glossy silk taffeta's, sequin stripes, cool jersey knits and even opaque black tights with a high gloss finish (where can I get those??) were in keeping with the strong future trend that started in Spring. My favourite though had to be the grey cashmere flannel A-line dress - when paired with those tights?! Flawless.

Easy Spirit

I don't know if I've ever taken much notice of NY designer Yigla Azrouel...but I really liked the simple sensibility of his Fall 07 collection. Tailored pini's, great coats and draped wool jersey jumpers that I would want to wear now. The collection as a whole seemed effortless and chic - even if it did pay a little homage to Chloe Fall 07?
