Inspiration?

Pics from style.com.
I've been blogging about the turban phenomenon for awhile now and the stir they've caused since their debut on the spring Prada runway. They've almost now taken on a life of there own...inspiring comic strips , celebrities and bloggers alike. Alas, no one quite captures their loveliness like Miuccia herself. Go straight to the Prada website for a large collection of shots with colours that are sure to inspire you - even if the turbans don't?
Thanks to Adrian for the lead! Title Petit Mal.

In my humble opinion, one of the best things about Japanese style is their unbridled quest for the new and the cool. I never cease to be impressed and inspired when I visit Japan (and this trip did not disappoint). They seriously layer like no other, and are the supreme mix-masters of their own wardrobe complilations. Their creativity when it comes to fashion is duly represented in Vogue Nippon. Not seemingly quite as worried about the "commercial" aspect of fashion as their American sister, I dove into the May issue featuring my current Canadian fave Coco Rocha - and it didn't disappoint. The title of the issue was "Fashion Future" and what better way to illustrate fashions future than have some of Japan's best Anime artists lend their hand to fashion illustration?
Gonzo does Hussein Chalayan's most directional collection justice, Studio4Degrees Celcius ventures into the realm of Nicolas Ghesquière's Tron inspired spring Balenciaga collection and perhaps my favorite: Peach Pit doing Christopher Kane in a cacophony of colour and shape.

As we speak...er blog...umm read... ah whateva! I'm packing my bags for Tokyo. What to pack you might ask? Tunic dresses, ballet flats, skinny jeans, nylon anorak...but more importantly - what NOT to pack? Exactly. One never knows when one will be back in Tokyo...AKA home to some of the best shopping in the world. Therefore, I've conclusively decided that I don't need much more than comfy shoes and an empty credit card. Love you all, promise be in touch. Leaving you with a taste of Tokyo street styles....

Yah I'm talking to you. If this doesn't spell it out for you - nothing will. Yes Miss Moss is fabulous and fantastic...but can we spend some time looking at her clothing collection that is about to go global as of May? Yes cute pieces here and there...but what this illustrates is ATTUTUDE! Do you see Irina working that $100 blazer?? Now that is invaluable. Look and learn ladies.

Barney's girl I am. Some await the Christmas catalogue with the same anticipation that I feel towards the Barney's Co-op bi-annual catalogue...but I doubt it.
For me - first and formost it's about the mix. Some serious Marc by Marc mixed with Helmut Lang...Vena Cava with Daryl K. Favourite outfit if I had to choose...perhaps Han Jin in the last pic mixing gladiator sandals, patent leather and some zippers.
Mod - who cares - I'm moving on.

But before you go shopping for a new outfit sorry to be the one to break the news...chances are you weren't invited. Sigh. No reason not to enjoy the invite though! (Not much of a consolation prize...you better treat yourself to those new Marni shoes anyhow!)
Invite by fashion illustrator extraordinaire Andrea Marshall.
