Toughen Up!

This may be my mantra for the season...get rid of all that cute-sy shit from last season and start channeling mean girls. Mix dark denim with black leather, throw in a little plaid, a sick BIG bag and your done. Questions??

Go Green!

And attempt to look this good while doing it. I'm in love with this girl - her hair, boots, bike and basket are all perfection. Likey?

Suit Up!

What's next after so many shapeless dresses you might ask?

If you didn't believe it previously, hear it now: tailoring is back as preached by the French Goddess herself, Carine. Check out Giselle looking FANTASTIQUE on the new cover of French Vogue.

If you buy only one thing this Fall (ya right), let it be an immaculately tailored, black jacket.

Heaven Scent

I not shy in admitting that I think I have a bit of a "nose" for scents. I LOVE buying my best girlfriends fabulous parfum -- and I also like to think (hope) that I usually hit the nail on the head?

For my lovely J, I once gave her Hanae Mori. For darling A - Lanvin. My sister; Narciso Rodriguez. The list goes on - my mother...mother-in-law...actually I may just be a serial perfume giver! (I suppose there are worse things?)

So all that being said, picture it: Friday afternoon - Paris - Colette - jammed with the usual fashion pack and so uncomfortably warm that I actually had no interest in staying. I was edging my way towards the door through the hipsters, when I spotted IT out of the corner of my eye. A NEW Prada perfume? Excuse me? How did this previously escape my attention? Infusion d'Iris by Prada. Perhaps the subtlest, lovliest thing I've smelt in a long time. It was apparently based on a personal scent that Miuccia had made for herself a number of years ago and now it has become her second perfume and my own personal scent too! Anyone else loving it as much as me?

PS. Paris and London were fantastic -- perhaps too much so as Visa just called and inquired if someone had stolen my card!! Oops. More on that later...

Fashion Fix...

O Darling Glossy One's -
I hope you're not too put out with my lack of posts of late! I decided to jump the pond for a "real" fashion fix. 6 days in Paris and then a few in London. Will miss you desperately! Bisous, The Glossy Ed.
PS. Am spending my future childrens' inheritances at Isabel Marant and hopefully Miu Miu?! Will let you know.

Oh Canada!

When discussing Canadian fashion - I'm the first one to admit that it's a bit of an oxymoron. With many a mountain or long stretch of The Prairies separating the major cities, good fashion is sometimes hard to come by. That's not to say that there aren't some bright lights -- new designers such as Erdem and Jeremy Laing are fighting for the cause however, when I envision people thinking about Canada I assume they must picture plaid hunting jackets, puffer vests, hiking boots and fur hats.

So - when Teen Vogue pulled out all the stops and produced an editorial such as this one! Well I just had to say something!

Plaid flannel jackets - $24.95 at Canadian Tire, Down-Filled Puffers - $89 Mark's Work Warehouse, Rainwear - Mountain Equiptment Co-op $90.

So the next time someone tells you Cananda doesn't know anything about fashion -- you can now disagree.

Street Style Army

Sorry for the lack of posts but I'm just all "fashion-ed out" at the moment. Don't ask.

Regardless, New York did not impress. I'm holding out for London, Milan and Paris. That being said, some how the street styles never disappoint. With editors, buyers, bloggers and fashionista's flocking to the fashion centres like moths to a lightbulb....at least we have something to look at?? I realised after the fact that top 2 and 3 are the same girl...does anyone know this lovely? and if not can anyone at least ID her fabulous shoes?

Proenza's Luxe Tribe

New York fashion week got off to a rather dull start. The first few days did nothing to garner my attention -- honestly I can't look at another smock-like dress. After not having seen my own waist-line for a year I'm feeling the need to prove to myself that all those tortourous hours at the gym with Josh are paying off God-damn-it!

Anyhoo, thank goodness for Proenza Schouler! (Say after me: pro-enza sck-ooler.) Channeling the much needed BODY-CON silhouettes that started to show this Fall, can we assume that some much needed STRUCTURE is back?! That combined with an incredible wealth of sumptuous fabrics made for what is sure to be a blockbuster season for Proenza.

I can already see Carine Roitfeld placing her orders - "Oui! Je tout prendrai!" And even if you can't take one of everything like our beloved Carine, you can certainly burn a few smock dresses, dig out a belt, put on some heels and celebrate your waist.

Spreading the Love...

This Rockin' Girl Blogger tag has been flying around the web -- and let's just say I'm feeling the love! I was tagged not once, not twice, but THREE times!! Mille bisous to: Em at C'est La Mode, Jesicola at Ropa Vieja and the lovely Mrs Fashion.

What does it mean...umm don't know except I get to tag some of the lovelies out there? (In no particular order -- the nominees are...)

1. The Queens over at Kingdom of Style...
2. The Literary Liberty London Girl...
3. The Comic Bojana at Power Rangers Go!
4. La Boheme Jennine at The Coveted...

Rock on Ladies;)

The Swedish Mix

Fashion-wise Fall 07 has shaped up to be a season of dicotomies. How so? Modern and minimal was the mantra on many a runway - however Balenciaga certainly threw a wretch in it with his ethnic prints and scarves (already a fashion staple for any hipster worth her salt). While many a girl is currently reflecting on just how to make Fall 07 her own apparently this (ahem) 17 yr old Swede has it figured out. Mix-mastering a leather Acne dress with skinnies, scarf and beret - I have no shame in taking her lead.

PS. Zara can help you out with a minimalist leather shift if Acne
is out of reach geographically (or finacially)?!
