Shape Shifting
Resort collections are not about new ideas. They are about evolution. Shape evolution mainly. They are not a colour focus - although colour may apprear. They are the bridge that joins Fall to Spring and Spring back again to Fall. And they are also certainly NOT an opportunity to bastardize nautical themes.
Anyhoo, Phi is a perfect example of what resort should be. New silhouettes - subtle shape- shifting. Volume quietly sliding from the top to the bottom. Sleeves unhinging, blazers shortening and all while you thinking - when is this available??

I totally agree with you that fashion is all about evolution!
Everything that we wear nowadays was worn by people decades ago...
For example, right now I'm looking at some Courtney Love's old pictures and I see her wearing some baby-doll dresses, under-knee socks, victorian-like dresses and stuff...

these ensembles are all amazing, and not to mention, a wonderful celebration of the female form.
love your explanation of resort- I think it's definitely about wearability too, the clothes usually seem easier to wear than a lot of what's up for spring or fall. And a lot of people think it's the best chance one gets to go nautical, LOL!

isn't resort more for the actual purpose ? i do believe in a sense that resort bring the two closer to each other...and that nautical should not be bastardize and if it does..it shows clear and pure lazyness on the designers side...but should resort..maintain..if you were on a resort ?
