New Girl on the Block...

Cate Chant

Another Canadian classic coming to an international runway near you.

Fug Shoes

I don't care who thinks the "it" bag is over (isn't just the name "it" bag bad enough???) but THESE are not replacing it -- even if Miuccia says so herself.

Dark Flower

The big guns (Carine, Anna et al) can't seem to get enough flower power for spring 08. And after spending 3 days in Tokyo (and another week elsewhere in Asia)...I too was caught up in the petal pandemonium. Japanese Vogue alone dedicated 21 full editorial pages! to all things floral this month (including one slightly ghostly Moss cover not to forget).

Anyhoo - I'm now a believer and obviously so is Carine. See for yourself...les fleurs French Vogue style featuring Cecily and Balenciaga. Gorgeous!

Rose Hip

Better known for their more serious side - Boudicca takes an exceptional trip down the garden path with their most recent haute couture collection. And if ones-y jumpsuits in rose prints aren't your thing - why not start out with a sheer floral blouse? Personally I will be layering my floral blouses and dresses with a little leather - just so some don't mistake it for my granny's. I'm just saying.

Left You a Note!

bon joor...i haz un kitteh...

J'adore zee French encore! Pls. read with your finest faux French accent for best effect. Jezebel at it again doing their Paris Vogue LOL edition....

Chanel Smells Like Teen Spirit???

Is it true? Reports are circulating that the love child of Kurt Cobain and Courtenay Love - namely Frances Bean Cobain is poised to be the next Chanel girl. It seems the 15-year-old has accepted an offer to be Karl's newest muse?

And honestly ladies before you all get bent out of shape - who wouldn't accept such an offer?

Balenciaga Spring 08

Let me just say it. I LOVE this image. What makes a good campaign? To me - a powerful image. And Jennifer Connelly looks like the ghostly demi-couture goddess that she is. (Not to mention she happens to look about 16?) Does this translate into sales? I have no idea - but the stark contrast of colourful florals on such a severe silhouette - and similarly orange on turquoise seems somehow just right.

TFS.

7 things about me...Voyeur's Edition

At the risk of this blog evolving into one big narcissistic rant and all you sweet bloggers never clicking back here - I decided to do the Voyeur's Edition of the now well-known "7 things about me..." post. I was tagged by the gracious Jen Sall at Gold and Silver Stars and I'd hate to let her down!

Alright -- what is more revealing than a woman's handbag? I now give you permission to psycho-analyze the contents of my bag and get back to me on what it all means. Here I'll start:

1. The Big-Daddy Handbag:
The bigger the bag the ____? I'd rather have invest in handbags than ___?

2. Cheap & Cheerful H&M Scarf:
I know I'm going to detest this scarf and everything it stands for in approximately 5 minutes - therefore the fact that it cost $19 CDN is A-OK - no tears will be shed.

3. Old-skool Miu Miu wallet:
Slightly juvenile with the heart and thunderbolt - but sometimes I AM juvenile, so _ off!

4. Essential Blackberry:
This puppy is my saviour. Nuff said.

5. Marc Jacobs Wayfarers:
Umm...I have no excuses.

6. Dr. Hauschka Lip Care Stick:
Promises that "gentle ingredients encourage healthy lips without causing dependency." I'm not kidding. Doesn't Dr. Hauschka know that I have bigger problems than dependency on lip gloss? Wow.

7. Nuxe Hand and Nail Creme:
Discovered this brand in France - they now sell it in Montreal and I like to give it to all my girlfriends whenever possible. Organic ingredients and oui ello - it's FRENCH!

That's it. Now I'm tagging the following 7:

PS. If you're feeling "all tagged out" no worries...but for or the brave: pls. follow suit and reveal your bags and their contents!

Onward...2008

A New Year. New beginnings. Starting over. A fresh slate. Better choices. More work-outs. Healthier eating. New ambitions.

And if none of this happens you can at least look forward to a new spring wardrobe?? I know I swore off buying silly shoes - but sometime between Christmas and New Years these lovelies joined my collection. (Does this mean I technically didn't break my New Years resolution since it happened before New Years??)

Anyhoo - the 70's is always a decade eager for pillaging. And this W spread seems as fresh as a summer breeze...washed and wide-legged denim (kind of novel after so much DARK skinny denim), faded florals, and fringe. I will do all although certainly not altogether. And you?
Best wishes for new beginnings (and new spring wardrobes) to all my beloved Glossy readers.

Bisous, The Glossy Ed.
