Newcomer Rad Hourani

Armed with his singular vision (and an army of top models) - Montreal stylist turned designer Rad Hourani chose to show in NY this season. After debuting in Paris last season to quiet but critical acclaim, he made style.com's Top 10 to watch. (And yet somehow the show is not featured there this season??) With comparisons to Ann Demeulemeester and Helmut Lang piling up  - and stylist requests from i-D and other mags pouring in - I get the feeling that this is just the beginning.

Model of the Week...

My vote for model-of-the-week has to go to Karlie Kloss. NY fashion week hasn't even wrapped up yet and she's conquered upwards of (a staggering!) 25 shows. Her pale palour, tiny pout and serious demeanor seem to have struck a cord with many a booking agent - not to mention Steve Meisel who has a rumored "date" to shoot Kloss next month. I see Italian Vogue in her near future.

Is $495 too much to pay for sneakers? 

Even if they're Pierre Hardy??? You know if I wore them every second day all summer that would be like $495 divided by 100 days...

Pick of the Day

Pick of the day comes from Alexander Wang. Honestly - I could've picked any of the looks from this show but I picked Alana Zimmer in a floor skimming skirt, flat boots, sloppy cardi and toque because the skirt made me think. Think that I wore floor skimming skirts with boots sometime around '93 but I might consider wearing them again since Alex and Erin seem to be making them feel alright. 

Looks 2 and 3 are 'no-brainers'. Long sleeveless vest - yes please. Shredded denim shorts - umm ok. Chunky sweater vest - throw it in. 

Problem being the this is what I want now. Question is will I want it in 6 months???

Granted - for most people it's probably not much of a choice. Nevertheless Club Monaco attempts to prove that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Not so sure if Chloe would agree?

Pick of the Day

My pick of the day from Day 1 of NY Fashion Week comes from  Yigal Azrouel. This combo is catwalk poetry. Classic black and off-white marry an edgy mix of chiffon, leather and ruffles. I will be channeling this look umm... immediately.
