Dearest Glossy Ones
It's that time of year when I need to sink my toes in the sand and worry only about what kind of cocktails I will consume next. Wishing you all a lovely end of summer - see you in a couple of weeks!

Shred-It!

I know we already discussed the Margeila jeans that I'm lusting after.... and then the Rodarte de-constructed sweater and tights that I wanted to DIY and now Gisele being cheeky on the cover of V Magazine??? What's going on with denim? If you haven't already sharpened your scissors seriously - go forth and shred!

STUN-NING!

Du Juan lands the coveted David Yurman campaign for Fall 08 - which is no small feat considering it was previously held by heavy-weighs (haha) Kate Moss, Natalia Vodianova and Daria Werbowy. The Shanghai native is also featured in Giorgio Armani Pre-Fall shots and graced many a Fall catwalk. Now this is what we were talking about!

Atelier Versace Sketches...

Pitter patter how my heart beats for fashion illustration. No matter that Versace normalment wouldn't stop me in my tracks. The exaggerated limbs and and perfect poses - fanciful postures that perhaps do not truly exist but on paper make me smile.

Deconstruct-It!

Suddenly all things shredded are de rigueur. The DIY projects are pretty much endless. What will you need? Some sharp scissors and a creative spirit. (Or if you're really adventurous some knit needles a la Rodarte this season? If you figure it out - I will pay money for those tights. No really.)

"Britsh, Black and Beautiful..."

... is how Jordan Dunn was described by New York Times online in a rather depressing article about the racism in the fashion industry today. She is the British 18 year old that was discovered while shopping at Primark, and then catapulted onto the Prada Fall 08 runway  - which was no small feat. She was the first black model that Miuccia chose to use on the runway since Naomi in 1997. Shame. Since then Steven Meisel took the matter into his own hands shooting the all black issue of Vogue Italia - Joudan Dunn featured on of the 4 covers, on stands now. Let's just hope others take notice. If not - maybe we'll hold out for Dunn's future modeling agency featuring black, Asian and Hispanic girls? Come on now - a little diversity please???

If You're in NY...

Well if I was in New York, I would have the Acne/Staerk sale pencilled into my calendar. Details below... and if Acne loved me they would send me a pair of Generic Girls in 28 asap. Hint hint.

Imitation is Flattery?

Clearly there are very few "new" ideas in fashion but honestly where do we draw the line? Net-a-porter being "inspired" by Scott Schuman's photographic style - is that cool? Couldn't they have just hired him to shoot their latest Uptown Girl spread? I don't know where I stand on this.

Givenchy is my God

As I'm sure you're all well aware - Givenchy accessories are on FIRE this season. I give none of the credit to Gwenyth (although she looked great) it just seems that shoes are surpassing all expectations and selling out at $995 a pair! (Middle gladiators - if your a 40 there's one pair left). Where does that leave the rest of us? Surely Zara will be inspired... but will they cut it?
