Happy New Year!

I doubt my night will be quite as fun as this particularly debaucherous New Years in '78 at Studio 54. Ah yes - that is indeed Andre Leon Tally and Diana Ross getting down! Also in attendance - Truman Capote, Halston, Carolina Herrera to name a few.

Wishing you all your own night of bedlam! xx

Turning Japanese

Confession: I've been sleeping 10 hours a night for the last week. I'm trying to listen to what my body is telling me - umm ya - that it's damn tired! It may also be storing sleep in anticipation of mad jet-leg... I'm taking off for a 2 week trip to Asia next Sunday. First stop - Tokyo!

I've been to Tokyo quite a few times, but honestly the novelty never really wears off. It's by far the most original place on earth to spend some of your hard earned dollars (and by some I mean all). I'm really excited this time around because a) I will be by myself b) I really want to check out a few of Limi Feu's stores.

In reality she shares the same last name (and some of those avant-garde Japanese fashion genes) with her father, Yohji Yamamoto. Her aesthetic is slightly darker/more rock n' roll/cool chic that her mildly romantic father. Whatever. I'm just really interested in seeing the collection in it's natural habitat. There's got to be something to say for that, no??

Oh ya - anyone that wants to give free shopping advice for Tokyo - I'm all ears! xx

Boredom Breeds Evil

So... Christmas was lovely. All the gifts have been opened, phone calls made, dinners eaten, drinks drunk and now what? I was supposed to be snowboarding today on my brand new Burton board but somehow the gods were against it so I caved to my mild hangover and opted for a cosy day at home with the BF. Inevitably this leads to a little time surfing time... not that my credit card needs excercise? Sigh. Anyhow I'm sure you're all leaps ahead of me but I kind of just discovered Pixie Market! I'm not really sure why it took me so long - or why EVERY piece I would like to own is always SOLD OUT?? Except perhaps for this amazing coat. Winter in Montreal lasts forever - so mid season is always a good time for a new coat! It's by Supersocial. It hasn't arrived yet... but I'm hoping it's going to fit like a glove. Likey?

Vogue Vogue Vogue

IF I spoke Japanese, I would probably vote Vogue Nippon my #1 Vogue. I know that there is a collective gasp happening around the globe- "What?! Better than French Vogue?" Alright, to be fair my French is pretty crap - but it's still a helluva lot better than my Japanese. Therefore, French Vogue will get #1, and Nippon Vogue #2. American Vogue is somewhere down there after Russian and Korean Vogue. Anyhoo - no need for explanation just check out the Jan and Feb covers for Japanese Vogue. MO-DELS god-damn-it. SUPER models. Daria and Freja. Ya! Now that's how I wanna start 09! xx

Heart of Darkness

Having a bit of a propensity for all things dark - my new obsession started innocently enough with a few episodes of HBO's True Blood. This soon developed into a full blown fixation with the BF and I glued to the couch, pets warming our feet, so as not to miss an episode. I think they aired the whole season over 2 days - which we watched with genuine commitment. When Twilight came out I was only mildly interested - and perhaps more by Robert Pattinson (cough cough) than anything - however the book caught my eye at the bookstore and I'm ashamed to say I'm a little hooked!

All this of course can only lead in one direction - my wardrobe?! Of course Ricardo Tisci and Alexander McQueen's Fall runway provides amazing inspirational fashion fodder. They seem to never get tired of paying hommage to the undead. I especially love McQueen's prefall 08 collection. How he layered the sequin leggings under mountains of black-on-black or oxblood- red chiffon was nothing short of genius. Even the Givenchy campaign - a gaggle of girls looking rather dare I say... thirsty? Divine.

Mmm Furry...

Feeling the need for something furry STAT!

Brokeback Styles...

As the weather in Montreal has succumbed to the inevitable wintery temperatures, my thoughts turn to cozy "Canadian-esque" inspirations for my dressing. I'm feeling like khaki and olive colours are suddenly looking fresh... a pair of slim cargo's would make my heart swoon - and some wild fur on top would be the cherry. Think Isabel Marant (of course) with a little Emmanuelle Alt mixed in. Ah wintery perfection!
