The Glossy Recommends...
Magazine love is a fickle thing. If you are anything like me - you are probably always on a somewhat endless quest for the perfect fashion mag. And yes, as soon as you think you may have found one - the editor leaves or the mag folds or the content goes to shit.
Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select ony things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authnticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don't bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. Russh used to be much better and has already begun to change, still a grreat visual, but nothing like the Russh' of old. Try to pick one up if you can.
I totally agree with you...crazy. I often feel so empty and unsatisfied after I look at a fashion magazine but RUSSH never leaves me feeling like that. I love their collages and editorials, and they're always interviewing interesting people. Sometimes it's hard to find though!

I love love love the quote...So true - nothing is original. Feels kinda like a load off to see it in print.
It's so funny you should mention it because one of the things i miss the most about Canada is the fact that Russh is distributed!! When i discovered it last year i had the exact same epiphany as you are talking about up here: it NEVER disappoints and each page turn is like a delectable treat. And their cover girls - always the coolest. Aussie fashion is seriously something that doesn't get enough credit. Now if only their seasons weren't inverted...
