It's great that you think about it - most people are so disconnected from the origin of the things they buy. I also agree that it's a waste (and not just because my user ID is crocodilian)... no life can really be "equal" to a mere peice of clothing, right? Even if you're charging 11,000 bucks for it. I guess I would also encourage the same thought process with regard to fur and leather, but if it stops with an alligator, that's better than not thinking about it at all.

I think the structure and tailoring of the piece was perfect, but the killing of an alligator for that.. I don't know if I could write that off. I'm stuck in the middle in this case, I mean, bags made of cows and ostriches and all that - it depends on how emotionally attached you are to animals really.

I think I'm too cold to bother sometimes. They do die eventually, but if someone were to kill a human to make a bag, I'd definitely take a huge NO on that - animals seem less human to me.

Sorry, but I personally feel we should do everything we can to rid the world of alligators and sharks. Alligators are bad. They eat baby ducks, for instance. But then again, I'm the kind of guy who would, were I a wildlife photographer, use the jeep to run over the cheetah before it could jump on and kill the baby gazelle. Which probably means I wouldn't be a very successful wildlife photographer, but a hero among gazelles.
