The End

Must admit that I'm a bit of an Acne fan-girl. Loving this post-apocalyptic (or pre-apocalyptic??) collection for Fall 2010. I'm feeling the need to dress like a warrior and fight to the death. You?

And on a less serious note - heading to Paris/London tomorrow. Will be out of touch for 10 days. Perhaps this will brighten my mood? Til then...

Tee's Me

Are you dying?? Hannah Holman doing Alexander Wang T's campaign. I'm in love with the look of the campaign - and the product. Liking that he's expanded the range with some stripes and zippy knits. Thinking I may need one of each.

Oh ya - have to add that a certain store has done their own version of the pocket tee... nice fabric and half the price?!

Kelsey Girl

A relative new-comer - Kelsey Van Mook is another hot Canadian model to watch for. After opening the Givenchy F09 show and then landing the Givenchy Dance perfume campaign - hopefully F10 will be her season?

Miuccia's High-Tech Beach

Of course leave it to Miuccia to hit it out of the park with her Spring 2010 look-book. A veritable mash-up of beachy photo-images combo-ed with high-tech fabrics and youthful models all making me think SPRING. Her inspiration was apparently "business to beach". Lol. The world needs more dreamers.

Into the Dark

Reminding me of the long layers from F09 Haider Ackermann collection. Flawless.

Hard and Soft

Sounds a little racy - but may this be my new mantra for spring dressing? What better way to freshen up all those black, sharp somewhat sombre clothes I've been collecting (hello Haider Ackermann leather leggings thank you NY sales) than adding something light and soft on top? Christine Centenera does it best combo-ing sharp shoulders, studs and pastels. Likey?

Pre-Fall?

OK I admit it's rather sick and twisted to even be contemplating Fall 10 when we are clearly still in the throes of real WINTER. For those of you that live considerably closer to the equator - congratulations. But for the rest of us spring can't come soon enough!

Until then we have the pre-fall collections to amuse us... and that they certainly do. Favorites? Preen, Wang, Givenchy, Pringle of Scotland (who knew?), Balenciaga, and Proenza. To die for!

Nightingale To Go

Gulp. The Givenchy Nightingale on wheels? I'm dying inside thinking of the kind of company this bag would keep me on those serious long-haul flights. Not to mention the heads that would turn sprinting through HK International or London Heathrow with it in tow. Not that it's about turning heads, right?

Treading Designer Water...

Ay-ight. This is where you get to laugh at me because I was a little cocky with my last post - poking fun at your lazy holiday ass and all. Ya I thought it was comical. That was until the first week of 2010 kicked my sorry ass. So back-to-work is never fun but suddenly it's as though I need 36 hours in every day, while my sinuses decided to take a sabbatical conveniently at the same time that US is overly concerned with H1N1 (for sure it started in Canada) and I'm heading to NY Sunday. Grr. So the answer is NO - I certainly didn't have time to DIY myself a jean jacket inspired by last season Givenchy - or a Chanel tee for that matter? February will be better. xoxo

Deep-Freeze

Yo. Are you still there? Did you survive all the festivities? Are you now regretting consuming all manor of food/drink put in front of you in the last 10 days and adding new resolutions for 2010 - like not consuming everything put in front of you? Hehe. The holidays.

We're in the middle of a major deep-freeze here in Montreal. Which was fantastic for snowboarding and bonding with the couch/dog (2 go together) - but not so fantastic for getting around town. These 2 lovelies hit it right with a good balance of bundling and practicality. Just in case you're planning on getting off the couch sometime soon? All the best for twenty-ten.

Going Out!

The Glossy's Top Pick for 2010

Jacquelyn Jablonski gets The Glossy's Top Pick for 2010. Within the span of one season we saw her meteoric rise as she stomped down 52 runways, landed a few covers, racked up airmiles jetting to major editorials and landed in Wang's lookbook for Spring 2010. And the top pick goes to her cause I still want more... (Oh ya that - and her perfect eyebrows!)

Top Faces of 2009 (COACD edit)

Not that these top picks haven't independently garnered more column space than is healthy for any 20 year old - but they've now been immortalized by highly talented illustrator Jenny Mörtsell. COACD puts forth their top 25 faces of 2009. Of course such a list always encourages a certain amount of healthy debate... and with too many important faces to mention absent - and Amber Rose coming in at 16 - you can decide for yourself. To see all 25 go HERE!

True Colours

I like Vogue Russia for being the rebellious sister that has no fear of showing a heavily tattooed person in a fash-on context. Yes I get it - American Vogue clearly can't rock the puritanical boat that is corporate America - but what about other publications like Nylon etc? More tattoos please!

Rococo Rock

By far one of my favorite Ghesquiere for Balenciaga collections - Spring 06. Theme: Rococo Rock. Illuminated mannequin's emphasize the ethereal and somehow hauntingly perfect pieces. Shot by Nick Knight for Pop Magazine - collectors pieces? I think so.

Going Nomad

No fixed address, off-the-grid, under-the-radar. Love the sentiment of this Nippon Vogue Jan 2010 cover featuring Daria Werbowy. The loose, laid-back, vaguely bohemian vibe feels right for new beginnings in 2010 - mind you choosing Chloe Fall 09 pieces seems a tad strange?

Off-Piste

Holy shit. I don't think I've ever needed a holiday more. My last holiday was in July - and that feels a bit like a life-raft that drifted long ago. Since then I've been surviving on a self-medicating diet of wine, work-outs and wraps. Damn. 10 days and counting. A week of blissful snowboarding lies ahead. In all fairness, I just added these ridiculous French Vogue montages -- to show you what I won't be wearing. Think black Burton... it's Canada after-all, god-damn-it. Can't wait!

Camille Bidault-Waddington

Super-stylist, ex-wife of Jarvis Cocker. APC, Marc by Marc consultant. Purple Diary all-star. Favorite of Olivier Zahm and Natasha Ramsay? Maybe. Dull life - I think not. Cute wardrobe and personal style matra: 70's toujours. Finding her style refreshing after months of black La Lanphear look-a-likes. Maybe it's the Chloe boots that got me? Hmm.

The Big Chill - Elle Magazine Dec 2009

There's something quite compelling about piles of vaguely 70's styled knits at the beach. Canadian belle Kate Somers kicks up her heels in the sand for photographer Horst Diekgerdes. Styled by Camille Bidault-Waddington and infused by her personal style vocabulary - layering, 70's, warm colours mixed with cool. Feels kind of fresh!

Lite Reading Gift List...

If your friends are anything like mine - they're stylish, witty, well-read and up on pretty much everything fashion. That makes for some tough gift-giving. Here are my top 6 fashion "reads" for the season - assuming she doesn't already own them??

Martin Margeila - The rumored retirement of Martin Margeila called for the biggest, brightest and whitest book you've ever seen. Filled with back stage pics, studio shots etc. Everything except (of course) a pic of the man himself.

Nick Knight - Famous British fashion photog really doesn't need much of an intro. Will make any Ikea coffee table look like B&B Italia.

The Private World of YSL and Pierre Berge - Now really why wouldn't you want a peak inside? They were amongst the last of a certain league of French fashion royalty that the world will probably never see the likes of again.

Helmut Newton - 70's/80's fetish fashion photog. Known for combining a certain erotic sexiness with edge.

The Teen Vogue Handbook - I know this may seem like an unlikely choice - but honestly with interviews by everyone from Amy Astley (duh) to Marc Jacobs, Patrick Demarchelier and Karl Lagerfeld... it makes for some fascinating fashion reading.

The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman - This is like required reading. OK fine - calling it reading might be a bit of a stretch. But even if you cruise the blog everyday, you'll still find pics you've never come across. Not to mention, being able to flick through it in whatever order you want is worth the $30.
